Another Diamond Day- Learn to KnitAdults
Learn all the best things about knitting, How to Knit, Purl, Cast On and Off , Increasing, Decreasing, and Finishing. Diamonds are the project. These babies can be sewn together to make a scarf, vest, shawl, geodesic dome, or anything else you can dream up!
$70 Materials included
Duration: Four weeks
Days and Times: Tuesdays 5:30pm to 6:30pm- November 10th, 17th, 24th and December 1st
or Thursdays 7pm to 8pm- November 12th, 19th, 26th and December 3rd
 
Minnow- An Introduction to Knitting- Ages 6 to 14
Learn the utter basics of knitting, Casting on and off; Garter, Stockinette, Moss, Rib, and Basket stitches; Learn the difference between knit and purl; Learn how to block and finish up; and Learn what all of these things mean. An introduction as well to reading and interpreting gauge and choosing yarn and needles. Complete a sampler purse/book bag in this course.
$65 Materials included
Duration: Four weeks
Days and Times: Tuesdays 4pm to 5pm- November 10th, 17th, 24th and December 1st
or Wednesdays 6pm to 7pm- November 11th, 18th, 25th and December 2nd
or Thursdays 4pm to 5pm- November 12th, 19th, 26th, and December 3rd
 
Flounder- How to Decrease- Ages 6 to 14
This class is ideal for the knitter who knows how to cast on and  knit in a straight line. In the creation of a winter hat this class teaches methods of decreasing to shape the top of a hat and has the option to include cable.
$65 Materials included
Duration: Four weeks

Seahorse- How to Increase-Ages 6 to 14
Like Flounder, this course is ideal for knitters who know how to cast on and knit in a straight line. Students are taught the methods of increasing and the applications of these uses. The project being Fingerless gloves with the option of embellishment, (ie ribbon, embroidery or beading).
$65 Materials included
Duration: Four weeks

Adult Beginner Classes Start November 10th!!!

Now’s your chance! Its the moment you’ve long awaited. Purl Divers Knitting school is accepting with open arms adult students for Tuesday and Thursday Evening Beginner classes. The project will be a diamond scarf/vest/wrap, made of diamond shapes sewn together. You will knit how to Knit, how to Purl, how to Increase, how to Decrease, and  how to Block and finish your garment.

Two Sessions are available each with space for five students:
Tuesdays (November 10th, 17th, 24th, and the 1st of December) from 5:30 until 6:30pm
OR Thursdays (November 12th, 19th, 26th, and the 3rd of December) from 7 until 8pm
The Cost is $70 which includes all materials

Nice and Warm!Look! Here’s what you could make in the Flounder class on how to decrease. The band is knit seperately and can be cabled, divided box stitched or sideways ribbed. Stitches are picked up along the band to knit the rest of the hat. Winter is on its way!

Here’s a little sneak preview of the project for the minnow beginner’s course starting next week. The size is 9″ by 5″ with the option of a longer thick strap (for a bookbag) or the thin I-cord strap (shown here).

I am your captain, Stacey Sproule and I am pleased to announce the classes available for the month of October 2009. All classes are four one hour sessions spread over four weeks. Parents are encouraged to be present during class:

Minnow- An Introduction to Knitting- Ages 6 to 14

StarBoard- An Introduction to Cabling- Ages 6 to 14

Cables! My favourite! A pattern originally designed for Fishermen this class teaches the beauty and versitility of the cable. For knitters who have a firm grasp of casting on and off. The project is a pair of Cabled legwarmers or socks.

$65 Materials included

Mermaid- An Introduction to Lace Making- Ages 6 to 14

You’ve mastered casting on and off, you can increase and decrease like a pro and maybe you’ve even tackled cables. Now its time to challenge the mathematical complexity of Lace making. In this introduction students are taught the endless possibilities of Yarn Overs and Knit Two Togethers. The project is a chunky lace scarf
