FREE! Knitting workshop February 21st

Now’s your chance! In conjunction with my exhibtion in the window box at Gallery 1313 (1313 Queen st West, Toronto) I will be teaching a free knitting workshop on Sunday February 21st from 2pm till 4pm at Gallery 1313.

Space is limited to 15, so you must RSVP (email me at staceysproule@gmail.com). Open to knitters of all skill levels, but you must bring your own needles and yarn. We will be focussing on knitting freeform and using knitting as a sculptural medium.

New Classes for 2010!

Come Yarn-Out with Bendemolena

Purl Diver’s has a New Year’s resolution to improve upon class structures, so we’ve simplied it!

Here are the ways in which you can enroll as a Purl Diver:

1. Private Lessons- For Beginners and Non-beginners alike. Learn to knit, or learn more than just how to knit, get help with WIPs, learn new techniques and skills, or just pick my brain for every last scrap of knitting-related information I hold there.

Private Lessons are $13 an hour, no materials included (if you are beginning and don’t know where to start materials CAN be included at an extra fee of $15)

Private Lessons are ONLY available at Purl Divers Headquarters at 126 Westmount Ave. (Dufferin and St.Clair)

2. Group Lessons- For up to five students, Group lessons are available in Beginner up to Intermediate. Students can choose to all work on the same pattern, or everyone can work on different patterns.

Group Lessons are $12 an hour per student

Group Lessons are available both at Purl Divers Headquarters (126 Westmount Ave) or at a location of your choosing.

Materials are not included but should you desire to have them provided it will be a $15 fee per person.

3. Workshops- Offered in Pattern Reading, Finishing, and other skills(maybe sock making?!?!). For a max of five students, for four hours.

Materials included- $55 per person for four hours

Materials not included- $40 per person for four hours

Workshops are available both at Purl Diver’s Headquarters (126 Westmount Ave) or a location of your choosing.

Knitting is fun, and learning to knit with all your best friends is a blast! Have a learn to knit birthday party! See you soon!

Today is early Christmas for Knitters. The long overdue Winter issue of Knitty is finally here! And I am going to be busy! There are so many tempting shawl patterns in this issue, plus a very Purl Diver Worthy Pattern by Linda Wilgus. This pattern has it all, its convertible, quick to knit, and beautiful to boot! Cable Class and Pattern Reading Workshop

CABLE CLASS!!- For Adults

Tuesday December 15th 7pm to 9pm

Tuesday December 22nd 7pm to 9pm

*Note that this is a TWO HOUR Class. And there are only two sessions. You will find that cabling is deceptively easy. It’s actually a little silly how easy it is. But you’ll be hooked I promise!

Cost:$60

Includes Materials.

This class is for adults who can cast on and off, knit, purl and are ready to make everyone they know jealous with their mad knitting skills! We will make a beauty button-up cowl with a simple, but elegant, cable . (Not pictured but I assure you its admirable)

FRIDAY NIGHT PATTERN READING WORKSHOP!!- For Adults

Friday December 18th from 7pm to 11pm

Cost:$45

Includes Yarn, you must supply your own CIRCULAR NEEDLES.

Make this magical mermaid cowl(Pictured above, pattern by Sarah Hood), learn simple lace techniques and how to read both written pattern instructions and charts. Come have fun, snacks will be provided and BYOB if you are so inclined.

I completed my winter hat and took it for a test run on some windy terrain today. I holds up, no cold ears. Plus, its lovely. From Rowan Magazine 44, made in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino. Easy to knit and a good lace pattern if you’re looking for an intro to lace knitting. Try it!

Drop-In Now Available!

From now until Christmas Purl Divers is offering Drop-In Sessions available on any day when there is an existing class.

The cost is $13 per class (one hour) and that does not include materials.

For Children Drop in Days are: Mondays from 4 to 5pm

Tuesdays from 4 to 5 pm

Wednesdays 6 to 7 pm

and Thursdays 4 to 5pm

For Adults: Tuesdays 5:30 to 6:30 pm

and Thursdays 7 to 8 pm

Please call at least a day in advance as there is still a limited amount of space for drop-ins
